Introduction

The exhibition of “Closer” included artists Tai Chia-Ru, Chung Shun-Lung, Yang Chun-Sen, Lin Chien-Jung, Wu Chi-Tsung, and Ya-Lun Tao, for the total of six artists. The exhibition included artworks of mixed-media, including: oil painting, photography, installation, and video. The audiences were invited to have an interactive experience within the exhibition space, and it was anticipated that through the exchanges with the artworks, and through the dispersion of light and reflection with darkness, a visual or internalized effect could be created. As the audience resonated with the reflective quality of the light, a path seemed to have been pointed out for life’s ambiguity and subtlety.
Although the artworks were diverse in their expressions, the key objective of “Closer” was to show a harmonious sense of serenity and movement in thoughts and visual experience. It was about the state of search for the self and existence. It was closer to a state of unspeakable purity, and as viewers enter into life’s map of lightness, they may find an array of colors that belong to them.
