Movement has always been central to Julian Opie’s work, whether it’s movement around and through the artworks or the movement of the artworks themselves. Life and vision is so much to do with movement -it’s odd not to depict movement really. Movement is helpful in this, making the work playful and giving it a point.

As a passerby you yourself become the subject matter of the work.
